Sound Design Meets Motion Identity
In this short but expressive re-branding piece, I had the opportunity to design custom sound and music for Distract’s logo reveal animation – a visual transition that marked the company’s shift to a new brand identity.
The animation opens with the old brand name and evolves seamlessly into the new logo, accompanied by animated origami-style shapes assembling into the final form. My role was to create an audio layer and immersive soundscape that not only followed this transformation but also elevated it emotionally and rhythmically.
Using a blend of reversed textures, dreamy pads, light wooshes, subtle clicks, and motion-driven transitions, the sound design enhances the sense of continuity, innovation, and clarity. The music was built around pads provided by the client – adding familiarity while shaping a refreshed identity through sound.
Why Sound Design Matters in Branding
Audio branding isn’t just about creating a jingle – it’s about crafting an audible identity that supports visual storytelling. In Distract’s case, the logo reveal is more than just a motion sequence; it’s a message of change, continuity, and personality. The sound had to reflect that – without overstatement, but with precision.
